momentum series
The original Momentum Mono Amplifier was the first product designed and manufactured by the company and the latest version, the Momentum M400 MxV Mono Amplifier elevates this iconic design to its greatest height. The Momentum M400 MxV models feature techniques and topologies initially developed and implemented in the Relentless Mono Amplifier.
Every major section of the amplifier—power supply, input, driver, and output stage—have all been enhanced in this advancement. A new transformer winding provides over 50% more current output from the same transformer footprint.
The combination of these elements provides a 50% improvement in output. This engine drives a nearly 100,000ⲙF capacitor bank resulting in 400/800/1,600W of power output into 8/4/2Ω speaker loads for the Momentum M400 MxV The Momentum M400 MxV amplifiers are capable of driving any loudspeaker to its fullest potential.
The Momentum S250 MxV Stereo Amplifier delivers the extraordinary sound quality of the Momentum M400 MxV monoblock in a more affordable stereo design.
The Momentum S250 MxV models feature techniques and topologies initially developed and implemented in the Relentless Mono Amplifier. This fullest expression of the Momentum circuitry is reflected in the new model name, MxV. Those with a physics background will recognize that MxV or Mass times Velocity is the equation for Momentum.
Defying its compact size, the Momentum S250 MxV is a powerhouse amplifier. The backbone is the new ultra-quiet 2,200 VA linear transformer. A new winding scheme reduces the hysteresis effect by 90%, minimizing power and thermal loss. The combination of these elements provides a 50% improvement in output. This engine drives a nearly 100,000ⲙF capacitor bank resulting in 250/500/1,000W of power output into 8/4/2Ω speaker loads for the Momentum S250 MxV.
The Momentum MxV Integrated Amplifier by Dan D’Agostino Master Audio Systems achieves a level of performance never before possible in an integrated amplifier. Combining the front-end technology from the Momentum HD Preamplifier and the power section of the Momentum MxV amplifier, it delivers Momentum Series performance in a compact framework only hinting at the advanced circuitry within. Employing a configurable, modular design, the core line stage section can be augmented to include a digital streaming and/or phonostage module. When fully equipped, the Momentum MxV Integrated Amplifier topology is a seamless circuit working as one from input to output, optimizing performance in a way otherwise not possible.
Defying its size, the Momentum MxV Integrated Amplifier is a powerhouse. A new ultra-quiet 2,000VA linear transformer with unique toroidal winding technology, first used in the Momentum M400 Mono Amplifier, delivers greater power output than a conventional transformer. This engine drives a nearly 60,000 µF capacitor bank resulting in 250/500/1,000 watts of power output into 8/4/2Ω speaker loads. Internal circuitry filters RF noise from the AC powerline and compensates for asymmetric power waveforms and DC on the mains. Isolating the audio signal physically and electrically from the power supply section requires two separate chassis that elegantly interlock through 30-pin, 30-amp, gold-plated connectors.
At the heart of the Momentum C2 Preamplifier lies Dan D’Agostino’s revolutionary Complementary Four Circuit (C4) topology. This unique input stage circuitry sets a new standard for performance and precision, delivering unparalleled clarity and fidelity to your audio experience. Utmost attention to design detail ensures optimal mechanical and electrical isolation, guaranteeing pristine signal integrity throughout the critical preamplification stage.
Building on the legacy of the Momentum HD Preamplifier, the Momentum C2 topology utilizes an array of four JFET transistors in a complementary, differential, push-pull arrangement, dramatically increasing input impedance and reducing noise. Its unique, discrete dual-complementary differential JFET input stage achieves exceptional performance and stability in every system configuration.
For less-than-audiophile-grade recordings, transformative tone-control circuitry remains entirely transparent in its operation, ensuring zero impact on the signal path when inactive. Concealed behind a discreet door on the front panel, a headphone jack featuring independent amplifier circuitry opens the world of private listening at the most refined level.
The enhanced dynamics and power delivery of the Momentum C2 Preamplifier are a product of an advanced power supply, housed in a separate chassis for maximum isolation, and powering the audio chassis through a 20-amp interlocking connector. It features individual custom toroidal transformers dedicated to analog and digital circuitry, respectively, with internal circuitry addressing RF noise and powerline irregularities.
The Momentum C2 Preamplifier offers an optional DSM that adds connectivity for legacy sources, USB functionality, and premier streaming capability. Field upgradeable, the DSM adds SPDIF coaxial, optical, USB-B, RJ45, and Wi-Fi network inputs. For latency-free playback of high-resolution network content, 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet is supported.
Tailored iOS apps facilitate effortless control of music collections, streaming content, and unit functions. Native integration with subscription streaming services like Tidal, Qobuz, and Spotify is supported within the app, with additional compatibility for Tidal Connect. Furthermore, with appropriately encoded files, standard MQA decoding is enabled. For users preferring alternative music management, Roon Ready certification will also be available.
Capable of handling today’s highest resolution sources, the DSM natively decodes PCM signals up to 32 bit/384 kHz and DSD signals up to DSD256 (11.2 MHz). Often overlooked or downplayed, the analog section of a DAC significantly impacts the final sonic performance of digital music. Internal balanced connections carry the final analog signal directly to the input circuitry. From here, the analog music signal takes advantage of the entire power and analog circuitry within the Momentum C2 Preamplifier.
Created with precision and elegance in mind, the Momentum C2 Preamplifier expresses a sleek and sophisticated design. The included bi-directional remote control, housed in precision-machined aluminum and Delrin®, offers intuitive control over unit functions and settings. With its ergonomic design and LCD screen, the remote provides a seamless user experience, mirroring information from the preamplifier’s front panel display.
With the Momentum Phonostage, every last bit of music hidden in the finest vinyl records is extracted. Paired with the Momentum HD Preamplifier and the Momentum M400 or S250 leaves only wonder and awe.
The Momentum Phonostage has numerous inputs to handle multiple tonearms and turntables. It has two moving-coil inputs and two moving-magnet inputs, each with XLR and RCA jacks, plus XLR and RCA outputs. Every adjustment is right there on the front panel of the Momentum Phonostage, with its own LED readout. Pushbuttons on the front precisely control gain, resistive loading for the two MC inputs, resistive and capacitive loading for the MM input, and record EQ curve.
Knowing that even the best circuitry is no better than the electricity that powers it, the Momentum Phonostage uses a special AC power supply. Not one but two separate power supply components: a transformer that sits on the floor, and power rectification and regulation circuits built into the base on which the Phonostage sits. Thus, the sensitive phono preamp circuits are double-isolated from the transformer electrically, and also separated by a safe physical distance.
