Technics was founded in 1965. The first product they brought to market was a two-way speaker, quickly followed by a preamplifier and power amplifier. In 1970, they debuted their first turntable, the SP-10, which was the world’s first direct drive table. That was followed two years later with the SL-1200 which remained in production for nearly 40 years and became a staple of the DJ culture for its robust construction and stable rotation.
The current line of Technics turntables have been designed with two key design concepts at their core. First, this is not simply a piece of electrical equipment but an essential element in the complete listening experience and a product that the music lover is proud to own and display in their home. The second is a design faithful to the traditional Technics identity with no superficial elements. The product has been precisely designed to only include essential elements enabling the high level of performance required.
